About Me

My photo
My name is Sara and I am an art teacher at a small elementary school in the Sunshine State. I teach Kindergarten through fifth grade students. I believe arts education is an integral part of a child's success in school and in life. Students take home more than projects they've completed. They come home with confidence, passion, curiosity, and most importantly, "life".

FIRST POST!

Before I delve into all the awesome projects we have done, I would like to take a moment to say that general information about our art program is on our school website. I will be using this blog to update everyone on the specifics of what we are doing.

The art program is a comprehensive one. I have a scope and sequence that I follow to make sure the students get a broad variety of art instruction. I do my best to make sure each student that walks through the door is able to use many different types of art materials and learns many different types of processes. In a given year, the students here are exposed to: artist studies, clay, collage, color studies, drawings, glue pastel projects, landscapes, line studies, still life, observation, patterns, point of view, pointillism, pop-art, portraits, printmaking, shapes, symmetry, and weaving (just to name a few!)

In future posts, I will be sharing projects and pictures with you so you can see what awesome art we do. After all, Art is SmART!
